Backswept Braids

To do this look, you center part your hair.  Then you push your hair behind both ears and fish out a one inch piece just above each ear.  Then you braid each section, pull them back and fasten them together with a hair elastic.  Just be careful to keep the braids clear of the other hair and stray bits out of the braid. My hair was dry when I did this so I wet my fingers first to give me more traction on the slippery hair.

Bun and a Braid

Yesterday's challenge was to find a hairstyle that would be cool to wear, work for a nice restaurant, and keep my hair under control in a swimming pool.  So I did a high pony tail, twisted it until it was taught, then wrapped it into a bun and secured it with bobby pins.  The leftover hair I braided into a rat tail and secured with a hair elastic.
And it still looked good even after swimming.

Sideswept Pony Tail Hair Day 7

I wear my hair like this quite often.  When I sit in the truck and lean my head back, or when I lay on a pillow to read, I don't like having a big bulky bun to lean on. This gets my hair out of the way so I can be comfortable.

Braids With a Zig-Zag Part

Today I had to find a cool way to wear my hair in this heat wave.  So I did a zigzag part and braided my hair.

High Pony Tail Day Five

Considering the heatwave, today I decided to go with a classic.  A high ponytail. By some miracle my crimped feathers landed right on top so I have the first good photo ever of the feather extensions I got back in May compliments of my daughter.

Braided Crown Day 4

This style is not easy to do by yourself, and usually I have to attempt it 3 or 4 times before it either passes, or I get impatient and decide to do something else with my hair.  It helps to learn this on a friend and then once your muscles are trained you can braid behind your own head.

I started the braid just above my ear, went around the back, over the other ear, and then whatever is left gets braided and laid around my forehead and above the start of the braid.  When I get to the end of the braid I secure it with a hair elastic. The end gets tucked into the top of the main braid and then I pin the tail. This is a pretty style to enhance with tiny flowers like strawflowers for a special occasion.

Pigtails Day 3

In this hot weather I do my best to get my hair up and off my neck.  So today I went with pigtails.  That in itself looks pretty plain, so I spiced it up by wearing my newly woven hair scarf with it.
